2nd Annual Alumni BBQ and Basketball 2009

On Friday evening, January 9, 2009 we welcomed our alumni back to school to enjoy a BBQ and Basketball event. Over 60 Gateway alumni attended and enjoyed catching up with each other. The varsity basketball team played the alumni team and were cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd. The BBQ was delicious thanks to the hard work of Gateway seniors/chefs Emmett Kauffman and Maurice Woods. Special thanks to Joyce McMinn and Erika Gonçalves for organizing a wonderful evening.

10-year Anniversary Dinner and Auction

Gateway celebrated our Ten Year Anniversary at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on 10/10.

Our "Ten Ten" party celebrated ten years of Gateway with our entire community. Here are some photos of a very fun evening with Master of Ceremonies Mike Day, Live Auctioneer Peter Finch of KFOG Radio and over 400 guests. Knight's Catering and generous parents created a lavish evening of food, drink, silent and live auctions and music by The Troublemakers' Union. Over $40,000 was raised to benefit the educational program offered at our exceptional charter high school.

Matters of the Mind Luncheon

On Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Gateway welcomed David Sheff, author of "Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction" to this year's 6th annual "Matters of the Mind" luncheon.

Over 350 guests enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by DeLessio Market followed by the opportunity to hear David Sheff interviewed by GPA President Amy Joseph and Gateway senior Kate Elliott.

Following Mr. Sheff's interview, guests were invited to a book signing in the Jack A. Sullivan Library. Many purchased both David's book "Beautiful Boy" as well as his son Nic's poignant account of his addiction "Tweak". Thank you to Books Inc. for providing these books for sale.

A huge Gateway thank you to an amazing luncheon committee headed by Leslie Burlock, Ashley Wessinger and Lisille Matheson.

We are deeply appreciative to the generosity of our friends. Gateway raised over $130,000 to benefit the educational program at Gateway.
