In Our Corner

We are grateful for the amazing support we receive every day from families, alumni, foundations, corporations, and friends in the community. A few very special donors have shared with us why they choose to support Gateway.

Maria Telpoukhovskaia, Gateway ’03, Yale ’07, University of British Columbia ’14

Gateway had an incredible impact on my life. I hope that many students will get the same opportunity to have the exceptional learning and growing experiences that I had. Teachers at Gateway always supported me in expressing who I was, let me explore my interests, treated me like a special student (which they do for all students), and rewarded me for hard work. It was the perfect environment for me, and Yale was the perfect way to continue my intellectual and personal growth. Giving back to both Gateway and Yale is a natural outcome of both schools conferring upon me the rights and responsibilities that come with my education.

Lisa Villarreal, The San Francisco Foundation

As a career public educator, when I came to The San Francisco Foundation I was not pro-charter school. Gateway changed my mind, epitomizing positive interdependence between district and charter, bravely innovating, and steadily boosting student performance in school and in life - a shining example of what a really good charter school can be.

John and Stephanie Dains, Friends and Former Trustee of Gateway

At Gateway, the students, the faculty and the administration ‘step up, do right, dream big’ every day. They show us that providing and receiving a great public school education is not only achievable, but also sustainable. We are honored to step up and do right by supporting Gateway Middle School.

Leslie Burlock, Friend and Former Trustee of Gateway

As a fourth generation San Franciscan I wanted to give back in a meaningful way to my city. I know first-hand the difference that education has made in my life and wanted to support Gateway and great public education in San Francisco.
